Hand-carved in Jaipur from a single piece of natural amethyst, this is a shot glass with the weight of legend in the hand. The ancient Greeks drank from amethyst believing the violet stone kept the mind clear against excess - amethystos means "not drunken" - and this glass is hollowed, by hand, in honour of that belief.

In Jaipur's gem-cutting workshops, amethyst is among the most demanding stones to carve: one wrong pass and the crystal shears, so each glass is shaped slowly from solid quartz, polished to a glassy lustre, and left utterly unique in its banding and inclusions. No two are alike. A limited-edition gift for a milestone, a whisky lover, a wedding, or yourself - an object that arrives rare and only grows more meaningful with each pouring.

The Piece

It's hand-carved from a single piece of natural amethyst — the violet variety of quartz — rather than glass, resin, or dyed imitation stone. Each piece is shaped and polished by hand to reveal the crystal's natural colour banding and translucency, so it catches light in a way no manufactured material can. It's a genuine piece of the earth turned into a functional object of quiet luxury.

Natural amethyst quartz. Amethyst is a semi-precious gemstone, and its colour — from pale lilac to deep violet — occurs entirely naturally within the crystal.

Yes. Because each is carved from a natural crystal, the colour, banding, and internal markings differ in every piece. Slight natural inclusions and variations in tone are the signature of real amethyst, and mean yours is genuinely one of a kind.

Craft & Heritage

Yes. Each piece is hand-cut, hand-carved, and hand-polished from natural amethyst by skilled lapidary artisans — a painstaking process, as natural stone must be worked carefully to avoid fracture.

It's carved in Jaipur, Rajasthan — India's historic centre for gemstone cutting and polishing. Jaipur has been a hub of the global coloured-gemstone trade for generations and is home to some of the world's most skilled lapidary artisans.

Genuine amethyst shows natural colour variation and banding within the stone — the purple is rarely perfectly even — and stays cool to the touch. Dyed imitations and glass tend to have uniform, artificial-looking colour and lack the natural inclusions and weight of real crystal. Each of these pieces is natural amethyst, with the variation to prove it.

Care & Gifting

Yes — these pieces are finished for use as barware, such as shot glasses and serving pieces. As with any natural stone, hand-wash rather than using a dishwasher, and avoid prolonged contact with very acidic liquids to preserve the polish.

Wash gently by hand with mild soap and water, and dry with a soft cloth. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, which can fade amethyst over time, and avoid harsh chemicals or dishwashers. With simple care it keeps its colour and polish indefinitely.

Yes. The natural crystal makes each piece unique in colour and pattern, and each is individually hand-carved, so no two are alike.

It's an exceptional one. A hand-carved natural amethyst object is striking, luxurious, and meaningful — amethyst has been prized for clarity and calm for millennia — and makes a memorable centrepiece or barware gift. It ships within 24 hours, arrives gift-ready, and is delivered with duties fully covered for recipients in the US and Canada.
