Common Questions
What does Home and the World sell?
Home and the World is a curated house of Indian heritage craft. The range spans handwoven silk cushions in Gyasar, Tanchoi, and Ikat weaves; silk table runners; handloomed throws from Bhuj; hand-knotted rugs; and hand-carved Makrana marble and amethyst decor. Every piece is made by hand in small runs by artisan families across Varanasi, Pochampally, Bhuj, Jaipur, and Rajasthan. All orders ship free to the US and Canada with duties covered.
Are all the pieces genuinely handmade?
Yes. Nothing in the range is factory-produced. Each textile is hand-loomed and each stone piece is hand-carved, sourced directly from the artisan families who make them, with no wholesale margin. Because production is small-batch, most designs are limited edition.
Are the products limited edition?
Most are. Pieces are made in small, limited runs and many sell as one-of-a-kind, so once a design is gone it is rarely repeated. Handwoven and hand-carved pieces also carry natural variation, meaning no two are exactly identical.
What is the price range?
Pieces start under $100 for smaller silk cushions and artisan tableware and reach the $400 to $500 range for statement marble, amethyst, and hand-knotted rugs. Collections are also organised by price, from gifts under $100 to gifts under $500.
Which products ship the fastest?
The ready-to-ship collection is dispatched within 24 hours. Most other in-stock pieces ship within 2 to 5 business days. All orders ship free to the US and Canada with duties covered.
Where are the products made?
Silk cushions and table runners are woven in Varanasi and Pochampally; handloomed throws in Bhuj, Gujarat; hand-knotted rugs in the Bhadohi belt; and Makrana marble and amethyst pieces are hand-carved in Rajasthan and Jaipur. Everything is sourced directly from the artisan families who make it.
Do all orders ship free with duties covered?
Yes. Every order ships free to the US and Canada with all duties and customs fees covered, so the price you see at checkout is the final price with no surprise fees on delivery.
Can I commission a custom piece?
Yes. Home and the World offers private commissions for pieces made to specific dimensions, colours, or materials. A private consultation guides the process from brief to delivery, and the same free shipping and covered-duties policy applies.
