Women’s Wisdom in Clay: a craft passed down from mothers to daughters
From the women artisans of Meghalaya - guardians of standing pottery - comes this unique, sculptural platter. Without wheels or machines, artisans coax forest-sourced clay into expansive forms. Fired in open bhatti kilns and baptized in Sohlia bark infusion, its surface emerges in organic waves of charcoal, terracotta, or smoke-gray - each hue a record of fire’s dance with forest.
“We shape small things with the same reverence as large - for in clay, there are no insignificant acts.”
- Hand-Pinched Perfection: Thumb-formed without wheels, its curves hold the imprint of palms that know clay as kin.
- Forest Alchemy: Fired in open bhatti kilns, then baptized in Sohlia bark infusion - gifting organic blacks, russets, or smoky grays.
-
Purposeful Scale: Designed for daily intimacy - to hold morning spices, gathered seeds, or a single bloom placed with intention.
