Hollowed by Hand: Courage Meets Geometry in Volatile Stone
Carving a vessel from amethyst demands near-alchemical skill. Our Jaipur artisans begin with solid blocks of violet quartz, drilling and hollowing interiors by hand — a days-long process where one wrong stroke could fracture the entire form.
More than a tool, this collection of amethyst barware is a conversation between millennia: measuring spirits with the same stone ancients believed tamed intoxication - the ancient Greek word amethystos means ‘not drunken'.

Preserving Your Hand-Hollowed Amethyst Vessels
DO:
- Rest before use: Let sit at room temperature 10 minutes before adding liquid.
- Clean immediately with soft cloth + tepid water/mild soap (focus on interior).
- Dry thoroughly with lint-free cloth, especially the base.
- Store upright in padded sleeve (provided).
DON’T:
- Pour boiling liquids or chilled spirits (<10°C).
- Use scrubbers, dishwashers, vinegar, or citrus-based cleaners.
- Soak, steam, microwave, or expose to direct heat.
- Clink against glass/metal surfaces - this can cause chipping.
NOTE:
Minor variations in translucency, veining, or natural fissures are nature’s signature—not flaws. With care, your amethyst barware will deepen in character over time, developing a soft patina from cherished use. Like all true heirlooms, they grow more beautiful with story.
Hollowing amethyst requires patience. Allow 2–3 weeks for:
- Stone Stabilization: 7-day rest to minimize internal stress fractures.
- Calibrated Hollowing: 3 days drilling to 50ml ±0.5ml tolerance.
- Luminescent Polishing: 12-hour hand-finishing of interior walls.
